In Kimovsk, a 31-year-old and a 21-year-old man were detained on suspicion of stealing money and a car stereo from a Gazelle vehicle. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Tula Region.
The two detainees are brothers. They were detained after a 42-year-old Gazelle driver reported to the police that someone had broken the car window and stolen 45,000 rubles (approximately $500 at current rates), as well as the stereo.
The criminals were identified through surveillance camera footage. Thus, the police tracked down two residents of Novomoskovsk, and it later turned out that both had prior convictions for various crimes.
Both Tula residents confessed that they committed the theft while intoxicated, and spent the proceeds on alcohol.
A criminal case for theft by a group of persons has been initiated and is under investigation. The men face up to five years in prison.
