St. Petersburg boy's killer from Rostov Oblast asked for intimate service

Pyotr Zhilkin, who confessed to killing 9-year-old Pasha in St. Petersburg, turned out to be a resident of Rostov Oblast. This is reported by Fontanka.ru citing sources. The 38-year-old man, although born in Luhansk Oblast, Ukraine, lived in the Don region until 2010.

According to the publication, Zhilkin had never been prosecuted before, except for an administrative penalty for disobeying a police officer in 2020. However, other media reported that the man had several criminal records, including for stealing a laptop and stealing a motorcycle in the city of Shakhty, Rostov Oblast.

9-year-old Pasha disappeared in St. Petersburg on January 30. A few days later, thanks to camera footage, law enforcement established that on January 31, the boy got into a Toyota Fortuner SUV near the Lenta hypermarket on Tallinn Highway. After that, the child was not seen, and he did not make contact.
The owner of the vehicle turned out to be Pyotr Zhilkin. He was detained in Pskov Oblast. He immediately stated that he killed the child and indicated where the body was located — a water body in the Lomonosovsky District of Leningrad Oblast. This happened late in the evening, and the search for the body was decided to be postponed until daylight. But, Fontanka.ru reported, concerned citizens decided not to wait for dawn and soon discovered the child«s body frozen in ice.
As the publication writes, Zhilkin lured Pasha into his car by promising to buy him food. When the boy got into the cabin, the man offered him 5,000 rubles (approximately $50 at current rates) for an intimate service. The boy refused and threatened to tell everything to the police if Zhilkin did not pay him a million rubles (approximately $10,000 at current rates).
The man, weighing over 100 kilograms (approximately 220 lbs), beat the child. The boy lost consciousness. Zhilkin took the still-alive Pasha to a water body that, as he knew, does not freeze in winter, tied metal pipes to him, and threw him into the water.
Then he returned home, drank with an acquaintance, washed the car. Then, apparently, he realized what he had done and decided to leave the region. He went to acquaintances in neighboring Pskov Oblast, where he was detained. Zhilkin had a laptop with him, in which law enforcement found child pornography.
According to Fontanka.ru, Zhilkin worked as a foreman at construction sites for various organizations. The man was married and has a daughter — the same age as the killed Pasha. As for Pasha, he is survived by three brothers and three sisters. His family was registered as disadvantaged.
