Nizhny Novgorod probes attempted contract killing of blogger

In Nizhny Novgorod, a criminal case on attempted contract killing is being investigated. Police have established that a local businesswoman tried to get rid of blogger Marina Ilyina, who made an exposé video about her beauty salon. Details were provided by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Irina Volk.

According to preliminary data, the businesswoman, with the assistance of an acquaintance, found a 25-year-old hitman, gave him the necessary information and money to carry out the order. Police learned about this and, together with investigators and Rosgvardiya (National Guard) officers, detained the suspects.

«During searches, communication devices, data storage media, computer equipment, documents, and other items of evidentiary value were seized from them. Various restrictive measures have been chosen for the individuals involved,» noted Irina Volk.

They wanted to «eliminate» scandalous Nizhny Novgorod blogger Marina Ilyina. The girl creates content by conducting inspections in beauty salons in the style of the TV show «Revizorro» (a reality series about inspections). The head of the cosmetology studio, Maria Bogomazova, and her accomplice were placed under house arrest, while the hitman was sent to a pre-trial detention center (SIZO).
