When the frost will retreat and snowfalls arrive: Samara forecast

Meteorologists expect temperatures from -33°C (-27°F) to -1°C (30°F) in the Samara region, with the coldest night ahead.

The Volga Hydrometeorological Center (Privolzhskhydromet) has issued a forecast for the start of the work week in Samara and the region. On Sunday, January 25, and Monday, January 26, the weather in the region will still be determined by the Siberian anticyclone.

On Monday night, the region will experience frost down to -28…-33°C (-18…-27°F), with some areas slightly «warmer» at up to -23°C (-9°F). During the day on January 26, temperatures will be -15…-20°C (5…-4°F). It will be clear and almost windless, with frost expected, according to the forecast by Galina Ovechkina, a meteorologist at the Volga Department for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring (Privolzhsky UGMS).

The coldest will be the night of Tuesday, January 27. In the Samara region, thermometers will show -22…-27°C (-8…-17°F), in some places the temperature will drop to -32°C (-26°F). During the day on Tuesday, the temperature in the region will fluctuate within -14…-19°C (7…-2°F). No wind is expected.

On the night of Wednesday, January 28, the Samara region is promised the same -14…-19°C (7…-2°F), with a south wind blowing at 6–11 m/s. During the day on Wednesday, the region expects -8…-13°C (18…9°F), with a south-west wind. Its speed will be 6–11 m/s, with gusts up to 15–18 m/s in some places.

According to the long-term forecast on Gismeteo, already on Thursday, January 29, the thermometer columns in Samara will rise to -5°C (23°F). Along with the warming, snowfalls will come: precipitation will continue at least until February 3.

According to the forecast of «Yandex Pogoda» (Yandex Weather), by the end of next week it will be even warmer in Samara — up to -1°C (30°F) on Friday, January 30.

Due to the severe cold, the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MChS) has declared an orange danger level. Ahead of the drop in temperatures outside, the Samara office of Rospotrebnadzor (the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing) told what the temperature should be in social institutions.
