Udmurtia Summarizes Recent Freezing Weather

Temperatures in Udmurtia dropped to –39°C (–38.2°F) over two freezing days. This was reported by Darya Zelentsova, head of the weather forecast group at the regional Hydrometeorological Center, on her Telegram channel.
Genuine Epiphany frosts arrived in Udmurtia this week. The coldest days were Friday and Saturday, January 23 and 24. In the north of the republic, temperatures fell to –37… –39°C (–34.6… –38.2°F). For example, in Debesy, the thermometer dropped to –38… –38.5°C (–36.4… –37.3°F). These are the lowest readings across all of Udmurtia.
In Izhevsk, the temperature cooled to –31°C (–23.8°F) on the night of January 23-24. Such a low temperature was last recorded in the capital of Udmurtia almost 2 years ago, on February 16, 2024.
Meanwhile, no severe frosts were observed in the south of the republic. According to Darya Zelentsova, due to cloudy weather on Friday, the abnormal cold bypassed the southeastern part of the republic, and on Saturday—the southwestern part.
In the coming nights, it will be colder in the south of Udmurtia. Temperatures there will drop to –27… –29°C (–16.6… –20.2°F). In the north, –22… –24°C (–7.6… –11.2°F) is expected. The likelihood of thirty-degree frosts is minimal, notes Darya Zelentsova.
