Sochi declares storm warning over wind and heavy rains

An ultrapolar cold invasion is forecast to bring severe winds and heavy rain to Sochi from late January.
According to meteorologists, from the evening of January 30 until the end of the day on January 31, strengthening of the southeast wind with gusts of 15-20 m/s is expected in the territory of Sochi and the Sirius Federal Territory. In the foothill area, there will be locally heavy rain. In Lazarevsky District, wave height is 0.8-1.5 meters (approximately 2.6-4.9 feet) from the south.
All city services are operating in enhanced mode. The situation is being monitored by an operational headquarters.
Residents and visitors of the resort are advised not to leave cars under trees, advertising boards, or other structures, and to take all necessary precautions. If a trip to the mountain cluster is necessary, it is better to prefer public transport. In case of an emergency, it is necessary to call number 112.
