Severe Frosts Below -40°C Persist in Kuzbass with Partial Relief

Meteorologists anticipate warming only in parts of the Kemerovo region at the start of the work week, as temperatures remain dangerously low elsewhere.

Temperatures outside may again drop below -35°C (-31°F) in the north of Kemerovo Oblast. However, according to the forecast from the Kemerovo Hydrometeorological Center for January 26, heavy snowfall is not expected.

On the night of Monday, January 26, the thermometer will drop to -28…-33°C (-18…-27°F), with some areas seeing -21…-26°C (-6…-15°F). But in the north, experts forecast temperatures as low as -38°C (-36°F).

During the day, the air will warm to -16…-21°C (3…-6°F). Some towns and villages will even see spring-like readings of -7…-12°C (19…10°F). In the northern part of the region, the frost shows no sign of retreating, with temperatures around -26°C (-15°F).

A light northeast wind will bring light snow. Drivers should be careful, as icy conditions persist on the roads.

In the northern capital of Kuzbass, temperatures on the night of the 26th will reach -28…-30°C (-18…-22°F). In low-lying areas, the thermometer may show -31…-33°C (-24…-27°F).

During the day, despite the nighttime cold, warmer air will push the thermometer to -19…-21°C (-2…-6°F).

According to forecasts published by the editorial board of NGS42.RU, warming will return to the region in early February—up to -9°C (16°F). But after a few sunny days, the frosts will return.
