Primorye Braces for -35°C Frost and Strong Winds Saturday

On Saturday, Primorye came under the influence of a new upper-level trough, which brought gusty northwesterly winds and local snowfalls, primarily in the northern districts. Meteorologists do not expect significant temperature fluctuations: the frost will remain at the same level.

According to meteorologists, on the night of January 24, light snow fell in places in the north of the region, leaving behind ice and packed snow, especially in the central districts, where temperatures dropped to extreme values: -30 to -35 °C (-22 to -31 °F). On the coast, down to -21 °C (-6 °F). The wind also showed no mercy to Primorye residents: on the eastern coast, gusts reached up to 22 meters per second.

During the day, the weather in most areas will stabilize: precipitation is unlikely, air temperature will range from -13 to -18 °C (9 to 0 °F), and on the coast from -7 to -12 °C (19 to 10 °F). Throughout the day, a moderate northwesterly wind will blow with gusts up to strong.

In Vladivostok, Saturday will pass without precipitation. Overnight and in the morning, thermometer readings dropped to -17 to -20 °C (1 to -4 °F), during the day it will warm up only to -11 to -15 °C (12 to 5 °F). The north and northwesterly wind will be gusty up to 14 meters per second, with temporary increases to 17 meters per second.

In Ussuriysk, variable cloudiness, no precipitation is expected. On the roads, packed snow and ice will form in places. The wind is weak or moderate. Overnight, air temperature dropped to -24 to -26°C (-11 to -15°F), during the day it will warm up to -13 to -15°C (9 to 5 °F).

In Nakhodka, the sky will be slightly cloudy, without precipitation, the wind is moderate northwesterly. On the roads, ice is possible. Overnight, the temperature was -15 to -17°C (5 to 1 °F), and during the day the air will warm up to -9 to -11°C (16 to 12 °F).

Forecasters have recommended that Primorye residents take weather conditions into account when planning trips, especially in the northern and central districts of the region, where frost and wind combined with snow could complicate road conditions.
