Novosibirsk to See Thaw in Early February with Temperatures Above Zero

Above-freezing temperatures are forecast for only a few days before colder weather returns.
A very warm air mass will arrive in the Novosibirsk region in the middle of the first ten-day period of February. Due to it, daytime readings may reach 0°C (32°F) and above. This was reported to an NGS correspondent by the West Siberian Directorate for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring (West Siberian UGMG).
“A thaw is expected on February 6–7. A very warm air mass is coming, so everyone will, of course, be happy about it,” explained Natalya Kichanova, head of the weather forecast department at the West Siberian UGMG.
Readings of 0°C (32°F) and slightly above are possible, but then a cold snap will follow.
Such a warm February is not uncommon for the Novosibirsk region in recent years. For example, in 2024, Novosibirsk weather forecasters recorded a thunderstorm on February 10. One Siberian woman even managed to catch a lightning strike on video.
