In Udmurtia, a cold snap with temperatures dropping to -39 degrees Celsius (-38.2°F) is expected from 24 to 26 January. Warming is forecast to arrive by the middle of next week, according to the press service of the regional Hydrometeorological Center.

The first abnormally cold night has already been endured. In some settlements, accidents occurred due to the frost. For example, in the Igrinsky District, three villages were left without electricity. And in the village of Vavozh, a water pipeline burst. 219 private homes were left without cold water.

Meanwhile, residents of Udmurtia are bracing for another frosty night. Then, according to meteorologists« forecasts, warming will come to the republic.

Overnight from 23 to 24 January, temperatures will fall to -29… -34 degrees Celsius (-20.2… -29.2°F). In some areas, it will cool to -39 degrees Celsius (-38.2°F). During the day, -19… -24 degrees Celsius (-2.2… -11.2°F) are expected, with -29 degrees Celsius (-20.2°F) in some places. No precipitation is forecast.

Overnight from Saturday to Sunday, from 24 to 25 January, the thermometer will drop to -25… -30 degrees Celsius (-13… -22°F). During the day, temperatures will not exceed -18… -23 degrees Celsius (-0.4… -9.4°F). Light snow is expected in some parts of the republic.

Overnight on Monday, 26 January, it will be even warmer — up to -23… -28 degrees Celsius (-9.4… -18.4°F). During the day, the air will warm to -15… -20 degrees Celsius (5… -4°F). No precipitation is anticipated.

According to the preliminary forecast from meteorologists at the regional Hydrometeorological Center, temperatures will continue to rise in the middle of next week.
