Last January day to bring sharp cold snap to Arkhangelsk Oblast

Residents of Arkhangelsk Oblast are in for a frosty night. In some areas, temperatures may drop to nearly -40°C (-40°F). Don«t expect warmth during the day either. We tell you what weather to expect in the north on January 31.

Temperatures at night: -28 to -33°C (-18 to -27°F), in the northeast of the region down to -38°C (-36°F), in the northwest down to -23°C (-9°F); during the day: -22 to -27°C (-8 to -17°F), in coastal areas down to -17°C (1°F).

«On the night and morning of January 31, Arkhangelsk, Severodvinsk, and Novodvinsk will experience a sharp change in weather — a drop in air temperature of 10°C (18°F) or more,» warned meteorologists.

Until February 2, anomalously cold weather is expected in some parts of Arkhangelsk Oblast, with temperatures 7°C (13°F) or more below the climate norm.
