Forecasters predict warm weekend for Kuzbass, allowing scarf-free walks

Temperatures are expected to rise to a high of -1°C (30°F) in Kuzbass this weekend. According to the Kemerovo Hydrometeorological Center on Friday, January 30, the milder weather will come with strong winds and no snow.

Tonight in the region, temperatures are expected to range from -17°C (1°F) to -12°C (10°F), with possible drops to -24°C (-11°F) in some areas. On Saturday daytime, it will be between -6°C (21°F) and -1°C (30°F), locally as low as -11°C (12°F). The wind will be south-westerly at 2–7 m/s, with gusts up to 14 m/s in places.

On Sunday night, temperatures will again be from -17°C (1°F) to -12°C (10°F), with frosts as low as -20°C (-4°F) and -15°C (5°F) in some areas. During the day, it will be from -6°C (21°F) to -1°C (30°F) below zero. The wind will maintain its strength and direction.

Cloud cover will be variable, with mostly no precipitation expected.

According to the weather service NGS42.RU, on Saturday in Kemerovo, daytime temperatures will be -7°C (19°F), and on Sunday, -8°C (18°F). In Novokuznetsk, forecasts are similarly -7°C (19°F) on Saturday and -6°C (21°F) on Sunday.
