An anticyclone carrying Arctic air to the Russian Plain is causing the upcoming cold snap in Central Russia.

‘The strongest frosts of this winter are coming to Central Russia,’ reported the Fobos center.

According to meteorologists, the intensification of the Arctic invasion is expected over the weekend. A shift in the weather trend is scheduled for the beginning of next week, when Atlantic cyclones will break through to the European part of the country, bringing snowfall and a gradual temperature increase.
