Are severe frosts coming? February weather forecast for Yekaterinburg

January in Yekaterinburg was truly wintry — it was snowy and frosty. At the end of the month, residents complained about uncleared streets, and before that, they were freezing in temperatures of -30°C (-22°F). What can be expected from February now? Let«s see what forecasters say about it.

According to the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, the average temperature in February in Yekaterinburg is expected to be around the monthly norm or one degree higher (the norm is -10.8°C (13°F)). The expected amount of precipitation is above the long-term average (the norm is 19 millimeters).

The chief forecaster of the Urals, Galina Sheporenko, noted that the first days of February in the region will be moderately frosty. In Yekaterinburg, snowfalls are expected, with temperatures down to -16°C (3°F) at night and -12°C (10°F) during the day.
«In February, the climate in Yekaterinburg can be characterized as frosty. On average, the city has 16 cloudy days, six with snow, and six clear days,» note the forecasters of Yandex.Weather.
According to the service«s forecast, 30-degree frosts are not expected in the city in February. Snow is likely only in the first week of the month. Daytime temperatures will be -6 to -10°C (21 to 14°F), and down to -15°C (5°F) at night. In the last five days, it will warm up, with sunny days expected, with temperatures up to -4°C (25°F), and the first rain is promised as early as February 26.
A similar forecast is given by specialists of the Accuweather service, but they marked the first week as frosty: on February 6 and 7, the temperature may drop to -28°C (-18°F). In the middle of the month, a cold snap down to -20°C (-4°F) at night is also expected, and snowfalls are forecast for the last week of February.
Finally, according to the Gismeteo service, there will be a lot of precipitation in the coming month. Snowfalls are promised almost every day in the first decade of February. And precipitation will return in the last five days of the month.
