As a result, overtaking will be prohibited on this section, and the speed limit will be set to 50 kilometers per hour. The roadway will be dug up, and traffic will be diverted to the shoulder.
The temporary traffic scheme, spanning 170 meters, will be in effect from February 4 to April 15. The work will be carried out by the contractor «Trust Uraltranspetsstroy».
The Ministry of Transport of Sverdlovsk Oblast assured that traffic jams will be avoided.
«During peak hours, traffic speed on this section already does not exceed 40 km/h. According to experts, the temporary scheme with a detour directly along the road section is the optimal solution given the need for reconstruction of the Yekaterinburg Ring Road section,» noted the Ministry of Transport of Sverdlovsk Oblast.
This section is part of the Northern Semi-Ring, which is being reconstructed in stages. The water drainage pipe is necessary for the future expansion of the roadway to three lanes in each direction. The construction of new interchanges is also planned, including a unique three-level one.
The reconstruction from the 10th to the 24th kilometer of the Yekaterinburg Ring Road will be carried out according to standards previously applied on the Southern Semi-Ring. Lane width will be 3.75 meters, and shoulders more than three meters. The total area of the land plot for the work will exceed 200 hectares.
