Volgograd to Restrict Truck Movement Due to Snowfall

Trucks may be redirected to an unfinished bypass route around Volgograd.
Andrey Bocharov, the governor of Volgograd Oblast, has demanded a restriction on the movement of freight transport on the region«s key road network. This order is linked to a severe snowstorm that has hit the oblast.
In connection with heavy precipitation in the territory of Volgograd Oblast, Governor Andrey Bocharov has given instructions to the relevant authorities, together with the heads of municipal formations and structures responsible for organizing and ensuring road safety, to take measures to restrict the movement of heavy-duty and other vehicles on the key road network of Volgograd Oblast based on the developing operational situation, — the press service of the administration of Volgograd Oblast quotes the governor. — It has been ordered to pay additional attention to the timely clearing of the road network, organizing uninterrupted movement of public transport; to recommend that residents without urgent necessity not use personal vehicles and remove them from the roadway to ensure unobstructed operation of road machinery.
On the evening of February 2, snowfall paralyzed traffic on the Second Longitudinal Highway. A difficult situation persists on the Third Longitudinal in the area of the exit to Rostov. According to weather forecasters, snow will continue throughout the night.
