Volgograd Highway to Saratov Closed Due to Fog

The Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) for Volgograd Region reported the imposition of restrictions on the federal highway R-228 Syzran—Saratov—Volgograd. The relevant information was posted on the department«s website and official accounts.

The EMERCOM message stated: «Due to adverse weather conditions in Volgograd Region (fog, visibility limited to less than 50 meters), as a preventive measure, traffic restrictions for freight and passenger vehicles have been imposed until further notice on the following section of the federal highway: in the Gorodishchensky, Dubovsky and Kamyshinsky districts of Volgograd Region from 22:00 on 29 January 2026, from kilometer 512 to 672 of the federal highway R-228 Syzran—Saratov—Volgograd.» Earlier, rescuers had already warned of severe weather conditions in the region, which were in effect until 29 January. Later, the storm warning was extended until 1 February.
