Volgabas Buses Finally Arrive in Yakutsk, Transferred to Carrier

All 50 Volgabas brand buses have arrived in Yakutsk. The buses have already been preliminarily distributed to routes: ten of them will go on route No. 5, another ten on route No. 12, and five vehicles each will be assigned to routes No. 7, 14, 17, and 18. This was reported on January 22 in the Telegram channel of city head Yevgeny Grigoryev.
In the future, the buses may be placed on other routes, depending on actual load and schedule adherence.
‘The new buses will go into service replacing old Pazik buses that have exhausted their lifespan, so there are drivers for the new equipment. Taking into account registration procedures, technical inspection, and installation of necessary equipment, we plan for the vehicles to start operating on routes gradually, from the beginning of February,’ wrote Grigoryev.
The head of Yakutia, Aisen Nikolaev, ceremoniously handed over the keys to the vehicles to the carriers — the company Soyuz Avto.
In total, the republic«s capital will receive 116 new buses, with over 470 million rubles (approximately $4.7 million at current rates) allocated from the federal budget for this. The purchase of equipment will take place until 2028 inclusive under the »Development of Public Transport« project within the national project »Infrastructure for Life«.
Previously, private carriers of the organization Soyuz Avto purchased buses on lease with the support of the city hall and the republic«s Ministry of Transport. About 4.5 million rubles (about $45,000 at current rates) were allocated per bus — this covers the mandatory 30% down payment for a five-year lease.
