Tram Route 8 Altered for Sibirskaya Reconstruction in Perm

Reconstruction of the tracks on Sibirskaya Street will begin on January 29. Due to this, tram route No. 8 will be altered, the transport department announced. We detail how the trams will operate.

On Thursday, January 29, reconstruction of the tram line on Sibirskaya will begin. Route No. 8 will be diverted via Kuibysheva and Revolyutsii streets. Trams will pass through the stops «Gleb Uspenskogo Street», «Dinamo Stadium», and «Komsomolsky Prospect».

On Sibirskaya, wooden sleepers will be replaced with concrete ones with new fastenings and rubber pads. When laying the rails, the joints between them will be welded. The transport department says that this will allow trams to run faster, smoother, and with less vibration.
The reconstruction of the tram line on Sibirskaya will be synchronized with work on Chernyshevsky and Belinsky streets. Tram traffic will be halted on three streets at once because the switch points at Trudovoy Doblesi Square (formerly Karl Marx Square) need to be reconstructed.
Recall that in September, reconstruction of the tram line on Belinsky Street began. At the end of December, traffic was temporarily resumed there because the work was suspended until warmer weather.
On January 12, reconstruction of the tram line on Chernyshevsky Street began. As it turned out, a new stop will be built there. Until the work is completed, route No. 6 has been temporarily closed, but the transport department has increased the number of buses on route No. 71.
