In the Sokolniki district on the morning of January 23, a tram derailed at the Rostokinsky Passage stop. It happened around 9 a.m., MSK1.RU reported, citing the Moscow Metro press service.

Passengers from the derailed tram were transferred to buses that continued on the same route.

Footage from eyewitnesses shows that the front part of the tram left the tracks and blocked the oncoming lane. All passengers were evacuated from the vehicle and transferred to buses running on the same route.

The metro press service clarified that due to the accident, trams were delayed, but now traffic has been restored. The causes of the incident are being investigated,

“Tram routes No. 11 and 25 are operating normally. Earlier, around 9:00, the first truck of a tram on route No. 11 derailed in Rostokinsky Passage. No one was injured in the tram. Currently, tram traffic has been restored,” the press service said. “The cause of the incident will be determined after a technical inspection of the infrastructure and rolling stock with the participation of specialists from the Moscow Metro.”
