Traffic police promise fines for drivers cutting through yards

Drivers who cut through residential yards near a metro tram construction site in Chelyabinsk will face fines. One passageway there was blocked by residents themselves.

Drivers who cut through yards near the metro tram construction on Kaslinskaya Street in Chelyabinsk will be fined. The city«s State Traffic Inspectorate (GAI) reported this after the publication by 74.RU.

The official detour routes for the closed section are marked, but yard passages are not included on the map.

«For driving through a residential area, administrative liability is provided under Article 12.28 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, which entails an administrative fine of 1,500 rubles (approx. $20 at current rates),» clarified the GAI. «While on duty in the district, traffic police inspectors will monitor drivers» compliance with traffic rules. Violators will be held accountable in accordance with the law.«

Recall that residents of the block bounded by Kaslinskaya, Ostrovsky, Sverdlovsky, and Komsomolsky Prospekt streets, located next to the metro tram construction, were infuriated by the traffic jams in their yards. The owners of one of the buildings even took an extreme measure: they blocked the passage with half-spheres (traffic bollards), and now a traffic jam of violators forms in front of their high-rise.

The passage along Kaslinskaya (from Komsomolsky Prospekt to Ostrovsky) was closed at the end of December until June 2027 for the construction of the starter pit for the North–South line of the metro tram.
