Due to the approaching snowfall, the Traffic Police of Sverdlovsk region have issued an urgent appeal to drivers. Meteorologists had previously warned of worsening weather, and now law enforcement are putting road patrols on enhanced duty.
«In the next 24 hours, worsening weather conditions are expected in Sverdlovsk region: heavy snowfall, in some places blizzards, icy conditions, and reduced visibility on roads. In connection with this, the Traffic Police are putting patrol crews on enhanced duty and drawing the attention of all road users to the need for strict compliance with traffic rules,» the traffic police said.
The department explained that during snowfall, the risk of road traffic accidents significantly increases. This is due to reduced visibility and increased braking distance on slippery surfaces. Motorists are advised to:
- increase the distance to the vehicle in front;
- choose a safe speed;
- avoid sharp maneuvers, overtaking, and passing.
