Traffic Jams Score 10 in Nizhny Novgorod Snowfall

By the evening of January 27, traffic jams on the streets of Nizhny Novgorod reached the mark of ten points. The road situation is greatly complicated by snowfall. It is most difficult to drive in the city center, according to data from the service «Yandex.Maps».

Currently, traffic is most hindered in the areas of Gorky and Lyadov squares, on Varvarskaya, Vaneeva, Belinsky streets, near Sennaya Square, as well as on several sections of Gagarin Avenue.

In the morning of January 27, a powerful snowfall began in Nizhny Novgorod. It is expected that by nightfall, more than 20 centimeters of snow will have fallen. The cause is a snow cyclone from Europe that has covered Central Russia.

The city administration says that equipment has been working in enhanced mode on the roads all day. Simultaneously, clearing of sidewalks, stairs, and public transport stops is underway.

Over the past 24 hours, more than 1.5 thousand units of special machinery and over four thousand road workers and street cleaners have been mobilized for snow removal. Authorities noted that compared to the first snowfalls in January, the workforce has been increased.
