Tourists Bound for Phuket Stuck at Chelyabinsk Airport

A flight from Chelyabinsk airport to Phuket was delayed for more than 12 hours on Wednesday, January 28. Tourists are worried their vacations may be ruined.

«The Azur Air flight Chelybinsk – Phuket was originally scheduled to depart at 22:45 on January 27. A couple of days before the flight, the time was changed to 5:50 on January 28. A day before departure, it was moved to 10:20. Upon arrival at the airport, there was a four-hour delay, and only then did we find out the plane»s engine was broken,« one of the passengers told 74.RU. »Plus, due to the delay, the crew«s working hours expired, and they now need to rest. As a result, the departure was postponed another eight hours, meaning the flight is delayed by a full day. Currently, around 300 passengers are being placed in hotels.»
The tourist clarified that the airport hotel could not accommodate everyone, so some passengers are planned to be sent to the «Malakhit» hotel. It is still unclear how long they will have to wait.
«They said the estimated delay is eight hours, and if they don»t repair the engine in that time, another six hours will be added for a different aircraft to arrive,« she suggested.
The airline confirmed that flight ZF-2951 from Chelyabinsk to Phuket is delayed for technical reasons.
«The airline»s representatives are working with the passengers. For the duration of the wait, all passengers were provided services in accordance with federal aviation regulations: accommodation in a hotel with hot meals and soft drinks. Flight safety is the airline«s main priority,» Azur Air concluded.
