Public transport fares in Tomsk are not currently planned to be raised. According to the city hall, they will remain at their current level for at least the next month.

At the end of January, it became known that Tomsk transport operators asked the city hall to raise the fare to 50 rubles. They justified this amount by rising fuel prices and the need to repair and update buses. Mayor Dmitry Makhinya said the city fare needs to be increased, but did not specify when it would happen or by how much.

On February 2, a question from a local resident appeared on the Telegram channel of the mayor of Tomsk. The resident asked when to expect the increase and whether the city administration would agree to the transport operators« terms.

«People are worried. After all, residents» salaries are not being raised by 60%, while route operators want such an increase. The cost of transport services, as well as utilities, should not rise more than the announced inflation rate. However, every year these rates grow at an accelerating pace.«

On February 3, the city hall responded to the citizen«s question under the mayor»s post.

«No fare increase is planned in the next month. At the moment, transport operators have provided the administration with their proposals for the fare with economic justification.»

They also added that the issue of the fare increase will be considered by a commission of the city administration, which will make a decision on the economically justified fare.

Since May 2025, the fare on Tomsk buses has been 32 rubles when paying by card or 33 rubles in cash. For pensioners, the fare is 28 rubles (cashless) or 29 rubles (cash). On electric transport, the fare is 30 rubles (cashless) or 31 rubles (cash). For pensioners, the tariff is 24 or 25 rubles, respectively. Baggage transportation costs 15 rubles.

Earlier we reported that the fare in Tomsk transport was one of the lowest in Siberia.
