SUV Driver Hits 18-Year-Old Pedestrian at Crosswalk

The morning in Pyatigorsk began with an accident at a pedestrian crossing.

According to preliminary information from the State Traffic Inspectorate, on January 28 around 9:40 on Kollektivnaya Street, a 66-year-old driver of a Nissan SUV hit an 18-year-old girl who was crossing the road at an unregulated pedestrian crossing.

The impact was serious. The victim — a local resident — was taken to a medical facility in the city with various injuries. She is now under the observation of doctors.

As clarified by traffic inspectors, the driver — also a local resident — was sober at the time of the accident and is not a habitual violator of traffic rules.

At the scene, employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate are working. All circumstances of the incident are being established, and an inspection is being conducted.
