Sukhumi Highway repair promised for summer season

In Sochi, the repair of Sukhumi Highway continues — this transport corridor connects Khosta and Kudepsta.
On four kilometers of the road, asphalt will be completely replaced, and a rainwater drainage system will be installed. Contractors will also update the outdoor lighting system, create pedestrian zones, refresh markings, and road signs, according to the press service of the Sochi administration.
This section of Sukhumi Highway plays a significant role in the city«s transport infrastructure, serving not only as a road to residents» homes but also as a convenient alternative to the overloaded federal highway A-149. The total project funding is about 265 million rubles (approximately $2.9 million at current rates), with the majority coming from the budget of Krasnodar Krai,said Vyacheslav Bauer, deputy head of Sochi.
Currently, on Sukhumi Highway, curb stones are being laid, drainage channels are being constructed, the base for future sidewalks is being prepared, and milling of the old pavement continues. The site involves 15 pieces of special equipment and a team of 13 workers.
The authorities promise to complete the repair of Sukhumi Highway before the start of the summer resort season.
