Streets Closed in Central Moscow, Causing Traffic Jams

On the morning of January 23, several streets in central Moscow were closed. The Department of Transport announced restrictions for car traffic near the Kremlin.

Currently, traffic is closed on the Bolshoy Kamenny Bridge towards the center, as well as on the Kremlin and Moskvoretskaya embankments. The day before, the department warned Muscovites about possible local closures, but many still decided to drive through the center.
Drivers have already started complaining that traffic jams are forming near the closed streets.
«We»re crawling along,« writes Nikita, standing at the entrance to the Bolshoy Kamenny Bridge.
«Why the traffic jam?» asks another driver in comments on maps.
According to maps, the most difficult routes now are along Moskvoretskaya Embankment, Bolshaya Yakimanka Street, and Serafimovicha Street. Traffic jams stretch for more than a kilometer, and it becomes freer already at the Garden Ring.
Also, traffic is temporarily closed on the outer side of the Moscow Ring Road (MKAD) in the area of the Businovskaya overpass. Moscow region Telegram channels report that today Vladimir Putin will arrive in Dolgoprudny together with Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov.
Rumors suggest that today Putin and Vorobyov will meet with the rector of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT), Dmitry Livanov, and the university«s leadership.
On the night of January 22-23, negotiations were held in the Kremlin between Vladimir Putin and U.S. Special Envoy Steve Whitkoff. The meeting lasted more than 3.5 hours, and the U.S. delegation left after 3 a.m.
After that, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov reported that the Russian delegation is heading today to a trilateral meeting in Abu Dhabi. Russian diplomats are to meet with delegations from the U.S. and Ukraine.
Streets were also closed during the day on January 22. On Mokhovaya Street, a motorcade of the Palestinian leader«s delegation was spotted. Today, Vladimir Putin met with Mahmoud Abbas and discussed the settlement in the Middle East.
