Snowfall Warning Issued for Federal Highways Near Voronezh

Avtodor (the Russian road management agency) has published a weather forecast for the federal highways on Wednesday, 28 January. Snow is expected almost everywhere. On the M-4 «Don», precipitation is forecast for the morning in parts of the Voronezh, Moscow, Tula, Lipetsk, and Rostov regions. During the day and evening — in the same regions, except for Rostov-on-Don.
The M-1 «Belarus» and M-3 «Ukraine» highways will be swept by snow along their entire length throughout the day. The M-11 «Neva» will be affected in the Moscow and Tver regions. Snow is also forecast for the M-12 «Vostok» all day: in the morning — in parts of the Moscow, Vladimir, Nizhny Novgorod, Sverdlovsk regions, Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, and Perm Territory; during the day and evening — along the entire route.
Motorists are urged to be extremely careful, observe speed limits, and increase following distance — it should be at least half the numerical speed value (e.g., at 80 km/h — at least 40 meters). In case of an emergency, call the accident commissioners« service at *2323 or 112.
Due to the raging cyclone, highways in the Rostov, Moscow, Smolensk, Kaluga, Tula, Tver, and Novgorod regions have been covered with snow. On 27 January, around 300 pieces of special equipment were deployed by Avtodor to combat the elements on federal highways, and road workers spread more than 8,000 tons of anti-icing mixtures.
