Samara to Kurumoch Airport Train: New Launch Dates and Routes

New information has emerged about the project to launch an electric train from Samara to Kurumoch Airport. It was announced at a meeting with journalists by Vyacheslav Dmitriev, head of the Kuibyshev Railway.

«There are two options for the railway approach to the airport: a bypass railway line through a forest area with a length of 5 km; and via an overpass across Airport Highway (railway track – 2.8 km, overpass 0.43 km). The Samara Design and Survey Institute «Zheldoproject Povolzhye» — a branch of JSC «Roszheldorproject» — must prepare detailed implementation schemes for these two options by February 27, 2026,» said Vyacheslav Dmitriev.

Once the schemes are ready, a meeting will be held between representatives of the regional Ministry of Transport, UK «Airports of the Regions», and Kurumoch Airport, where the parties will consider the project funding mechanism.

«The estimated travel time on the Samara – Kurumoch Airport route is 54 minutes. The planned train frequency is 14 pairs per day. The estimated passenger flow is 1.4 million people per year. The project implementation is expected to take 8 years, including the development of project documentation,» noted the head of the Kuibyshev Railway.

In August last year, information appeared that trains from Samara to the airport could be launched in 2028. Now the timelines have changed.
