Residents call bus route changes in Voronezh 'a mockery of passengers'

In Voronezh, nearly twenty bus routes changed on 1 January. Some were extended, others were shortened, and some were canceled entirely. The changes did not please all city residents.
We have already described in detail what specifically angered Voronezh residents. In short, the most outrage was caused by the cancellation of route No. 75, which city residents called lawlessness. The shortening of route No. 32, which no longer goes to the Southwestern residential district, also did not meet with approval. Other readers of Voronezh1.ru complained about the new route No. 71, the former No. C70, which now skips almost half of its old stops. Only two buses operate on it, running at intervals of an hour.
«They launched route 71. But we haven»t seen it yet. And what kind of a mockery of passengers is this?—a one-hour interval! No one will wait an hour; they«ll walk to other routes. And, of course, they will liquidate the route as unprofitable! All this is done just for a checkmark—the route is launched, but there»s no one to carry! <…> They haven«t been able to organize service along Pirogov Street for many years,» wrote our reader.
We contacted the mayor«s office with a question about the principles behind the changes to the routes listed above and whether further adjustments are planned. They told us that decisions on route changes were made by a commission—that is, they were discussed at meetings of the commission for establishing, changing, and canceling municipal routes. This commission includes representatives of the city transport department, the Unified Operator of Urban Passenger Transport, the traffic police, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, deputies, and public activists.
«Adjustments to a particular route were considered taking into account the existing passenger flow, actual performance on the route, the presence of duplicate routes, appeals from citizens, and other parameters. After a decision on adjustment is made, detailed work on the issue begins: working with the carrier, developing the route scheme, formalizing the changes in regulations, informing the public, etc. Citizens can also submit their proposals for adjusting or establishing a municipal route to the city transport department, where they will be reviewed by specialists,» the mayor«s office added.
Voronezh residents can submit their proposals in several ways:
via the «Gosuslugi. Reshaem vmeste» (Public Services. Solving Together) platform;
to the office of the city transport department by phone: +7 (473) 228-33-65;
by delivering a written appeal to the mayor«s office (10 Plekhanovskaya Street).
You can complain about public transport to the Unified Operator of Urban Passenger Transport by phone: +7 (473) 260-51-23. Messages are accepted daily and around the clock, except for two breaks—from 12:00 to 13:00 and from 00:00 to 01:00.
