Reckless BMW Driver to Pay for Fence Damage
The reckless driver who performed the «Kuibyshev drift» and knocked down a fence on the bridge over the Iset River could not avoid punishment, even though he removed the license plate from his car. He will have to pay over 700,000 rubles (approximately $7,800 at current rates) for the damages.
«Even though he unscrewed the plates from his car and took it to Istok for repairs, the accident was recorded, and documents for a lawsuit of 700,000 rubles (approximately $7,800 at current rates) are about to be sent to his address,» reported the Telegram channel «Yekaterinburg. Main,» which is close to the city administration.
Recall that on the night of January 19, a BMW driver performed a drift on Kuibysheva Street. At some point, the car«s rear wheels ended up on the tram line, and the drifter failed to correct the car. It went straight into a concrete barrier, bounced on it, and knocked down several metal sections of the fence.
His antics were caught on street cameras.
The Yekaterinburg traffic police (GIBDD) previously noted that drifting should be done on specially designated areas and tracks. Those who do it on the roadway violate traffic rules. We contacted the traffic police to clarify current information about this violator.
Similar cases have already led to tragedies. For example, in 2025, a group of young people in a Lexus was filming a video while performing a road stunt. The driver accelerated the car so that it would jump on a rise. However, the young man made a mistake in braking and at high speed flew off the city embankment into the water. In that incident, the driver and two of his passengers drowned.
