Prosecutors prove S7 airline overbooking in court

The West Siberian Transport Prosecutor«s Office has proven in court that S7 Airlines engaged in overbooking. The actions were declared illegal, according to the agency.
The prosecutor«s office inspected compliance with consumer protection laws for aviation services by S7 Airlines.
«It was established that the airline systematically allowed the booking of passenger seats on flights in excess of the number of seats on board the aircraft, and also unilaterally changed the terms of the air carriage contract, effectively preventing passengers from flying,» the Telegram channel of the West Siberian Transport Prosecutor«s Office reports.
The agency also discovered a legal act by the airline on passenger service in disruption situations. The provisions of the document establish the priority order for passengers who may be denied boarding.
«The transport prosecutor filed a lawsuit to declare the specified actions of the air carrier illegal and prohibit them, as well as to invalidate certain provisions of internal documentation on the organization of passenger service and prohibit their application,» the West Siberian Transport Prosecutor«s Office notes.
The court upheld the prosecutor«s claims. NGS sought comment from S7 Airlines.
Recently, NGS reported that the airline was fined for violating passenger rights. Sixteen people were unable to fly from Novosibirsk to various cities in the country.
