Orenburg-St. Petersburg Train Rerouted via Tolyatti in 2026

This change is designed to make trips between Orenburg and St. Petersburg quicker and more comfortable.
During a meeting with journalists, Vyacheslav Dmitriyev, head of the Kuybyshev Railway (KbShZhD), shared news that will interest those who appreciate both Orenburg and St. Petersburg.
“In March 2026, the route of train No. 105/106 ‘Orenburg – St. Petersburg’ will be altered to include a stop at Tolyatti station,” it was announced at a press conference.
Another train will connect the region to the capital of Bashkortostan, Ufa.
“Technical capabilities allow us to launch Lastochka (Swallow) trains to Ufa three times a week — on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The head of Bashkortostan and the governor of Samara Oblast have supported the project. It is now in the final stages of approval and could be launched as early as April 30; we are technically ready,” said Vyacheslav Dmitriyev.
Last year, several large-scale plans were announced for launching commuter trains and services from Samara to new destinations, as well as more modern trains on existing routes. We compiled all these prospects in one article. The list includes a commuter train to Saratov and a high-speed train to Moscow.
