Orenburg has been included in the top 10 cities with low-quality public transport (surprised?). The personal rating was published a few days ago in a Telegram channel by Russian public activist Ilya Zotov.

The selection is based on the personal opinion of the chairman of the All-Russian Passenger Association, after he himself visited all the listed cities, saw how public transport works there, and also assessed it according to a certain methodology.
Zotov published a similar rating last summer, and now he has summed up the results. Orenburg ended up in 7th place. The anti-top also included Ulyanovsk, Ivanovo, Irkutsk, Makhachkala, Oryol, Rostov-on-Don, Barnaul, Chita, and Abakan.
«With this rating, I call on all relevant authorities to pay close attention to these cities that show low results, in order to provide them with comprehensive support, because residents of the entire country deserve accessible and comfortable transport. It is also important to note the best ones so that experts and officials go there to exchange best practices,» wrote Zotov.
The best in terms of transport and infrastructure work included: Perm, Chelyabinsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Yaroslavl, Krasnodar, Kursk, Volgograd, Blagoveshchensk, Krasnoyarsk, and Kostroma.
Orenburg Mayor Albert Yumadilov acknowledges that Orenburg has an extremely difficult situation with public transport and calls it the main problem. The official sees a way out in increasing the number of medium-class buses (and moving away from the practice of purchasing «green crocodiles» — large buses), and also plans to modernize several trolleybus lines and purchase 10 vehicles (trolleybuses from four different manufacturers underwent test drives in Orenburg at the end of last year).
