Representatives of the oil company Lukoil explained why there were difficulties with diesel fuel that can withstand low temperatures at the company«s network of gas stations. The oil workers blamed the shortage on abnormal cold and increased demand for this type of fuel among motorists.

Recall that the day before, at the height of severe frosts, city residents at a number of gas stations of the large network encountered a warning about the possibility of refueling, at their own risk, with off-season diesel fuel with a high cloud point. While drivers were alarmed and worried about the condition of their car«s engine, an expert explained the dangers of refueling a car »not according to the weather«.

The press service of Lukoil promptly explained that the shortage, as the expert suggested, was caused by an unexpected severe cold snap in often «warm» Volgograd.

«There is a standard practice for supplying diesel fuel to gas stations taking into account the climatic conditions of the regions, primarily the temperature regime,» the press service explained. «The Volgograd region is in the temperature range of up to -20°C (up to -4°F), this is grade F diesel fuel, while at Lukoil gas stations, grade F diesel is available with an additional temperature margin of up to -22°C (up to -8°F).»

At the same time, the company assured that they are already resolving the issue with the supply of fuel that turns into a gel at lower temperatures.

«In connection with the sharp temperature drop, additional supplies of class 1 diesel (up to -26°C (up to -15°F)) have been organized to Lukoil gas stations,» the organization added. «Taking into account the increased demand, measures are being taken to increase the number of fuel trucks for delivering class 1 diesel.»
