The press service of the Volgograd administration has responded to complaints from outraged V1.RU readers about the terrible cold in bus interiors. The heating systems, which passengers had lamented as faulty, are actually working properly. The reason for the freezing is the frequent opening of doors at stops.

«In all the rolling stock purchased for Volgograd transport companies over the last 4 years, the heating systems are in working order. However, frequent door opening (stops are located every 500–700 meters) leads to cold outside air entering the cabin, which reduces the efficiency of the heating devices,» the municipality responded.

Initially, bus number 25 came under a barrage of criticism, but comments also complained about other problematic routes.

«I was going to work today on bus number 55, same cold: the heater wasn»t working, my feet froze. I rode for an hour, thought I«d freeze to death.»

«For the first time in my life, I chilled a part of my body by leaning my shoulder against the icy window on bus number 21 while riding home. My feet freeze regularly, and the trip lasts at least an hour! Livestock are transported more humanely than people.»

«I just rode on the frozen bus number 2 to the center. Steam from my mouth. Inspectors asked the driver to turn on the heating, answer: »It is on.« Why then steam from my mouth for eight stops?»

It is worth mentioning that 16.4 billion rubles (approximately $164 million at current rates) have been allocated for the maintenance and development of public transport in the 2026 budget plan, according to documents. Compared to 2025, the amount has increased by about 2 billion rubles (approximately $20 million at current rates).

We also recall the fare increase, which city council deputies approved last year under the pretext of modernizing the fleet and improving transport quality.
