In Novosibirsk, the number of accident hotspots has nearly halved — from 44 to 24. This was announced by Mayor Maxim Kudryavtsev in his Telegram channel.

According to the city head, in 2025, more than 50 facilities with a total length of about 50 kilometers (31 miles) were brought up to standard.

«We not only repaired the road surface, but also installed traffic lights, signs, applied road markings, and revised approaches to maintaining streets, crossings, and stops. In this way, we achieved a certain reduction in road accidents and a significant decrease in accident hotspots,» writes Maxim Kudryavtsev in the Telegram channel.

However, in 2025, 1,558 accidents were registered in the city — 2.8% less than the year before. The number of road fatalities also decreased — from 83 to 62.

In 2026, the authorities plan to continue repairing the street and road network, primarily in areas with high traffic intensity. Plans include the development of an intelligent transport system, modernization of video surveillance, and automated traffic control.

Previously, we reported that in Novosibirsk, they are searching for a driver who hit two teenagers and fled.
