Nizhny Novgorod Closes Kostina Street for Emergency Repairs

Central Kostina Street in Nizhny Novgorod has been closed to traffic due to emergency water supply repairs. The restrictions are expected to last about a day.

In central Nizhny Novgorod, near the Aviation Technical School building, traffic on Kostina Street has been completely blocked. This section, connecting Belinsky Street with Gorky Square, has been closed indefinitely by decision of the city administration.

The traffic management center provides a detour route around the closed Kostina Street section.

The reason for the restriction is emergency work on utility networks. The city administration clarified that repairs are being carried out on the cold water main at 2 Kostina Street.

«The damaged section has been isolated. No leakage is occurring, and ice removal from the road is underway. Work is planned to be completed within 24 hours, after which traffic will be reopened,» the city administration said.

Drivers are advised to use alternative routes to bypass the closed section:

Belinsky Street
Krupskaya Street
Bolshaya Pokrovskaya Street

This closure comes amid other road problems in the city. Last week, authorities reported plans to open traffic on the overpass near Myzinsky Bridge, whose repairs had previously caused complaints about multi-kilometer traffic jams. Work there has been temporarily suspended due to a technological break required by regulations to maintain temperature conditions.
