New Rail Problems Spotted at Deadly Tula Crash Site

A section of tram track appears raised above the surrounding road surface.
At the site of the deadly crash near the Maksi mall that occurred on October 31, residents of Tula saw new problems with the rails and people in special clothing, presumably repair workers. They reported this on social media.
Residents report that a section of the tram tracks that was repaired very recently has been «pushed up» above the asphalt — meaning it is slightly raised compared to the rest of the roadbed.
On October 31, a tram derailment led to a deadly crash involving two minibuses. Five people died and twenty were hospitalized.
Immediately after the accident, officials and the municipal enterprise «Tulagorelectrotrans» stated that the rails and the tram were in good working order.
Later, the speed of trams on Proletarsky Bridge was limited to 10 kilometers per hour (6 mph), and the speed of other vehicles to 40 kilometers per hour (25 mph).
Currently, three criminal cases have been initiated and are being investigated. More details about the situation can be found in the 71.RU story.
