In addition to existing security measures, metro authorities may also inspect phones. MSK1.RU was informed of this by the press service of the Moscow Metro.

These measures are outlined in Order No. 34 of the Russian Ministry of Transport, adopted back in February 2025, as noted by the capital«s underground system.

«They may be applied in addition to already existing security measures if necessary,» MSK1.RU was told by the metro press service.

MSK1.RU reviewed the document, which states that for an inspection, it is sufficient to show a turned-on and functioning phone.

«Inspection of radio and television equipment, photo, video, and cinema equipment, audio and video technology, mobile phones, personal computers, in addition to the use of inspection tools, is conducted by turning them on and checking their functionality,» is stated in the order.

The press service of the capital«s metro, in turn, noted that passenger safety is the top priority. Currently, passengers undergo inspection using metal detector frames.
