In 2026, the rolling stock of suburban rail service in Samara Region will be updated.

“To improve the quality of passenger service, this year the delivery of 4 new EP2DM series electric trains in eight-car configuration is planned for operation on the routes Samara – Syzran I, Samara – Pokhvistnevo. The timing and volume of rolling stock receipt may be adjusted based on the economic situation,” said the head of Kuibyshev Railway (KbzhD) Vyacheslav Dmitriev.

The EP2DM electric train is designed for operation on electrified sections of 1520 mm gauge railways at a nominal contact network voltage of 3000 V DC to provide suburban passenger transportation with a maximum operational speed of 120 km/h.

Currently, in the region, on the routes Novokuybyshevskaya – Samara – Tolyatti, Samara – Zhigulyovsk, Samara – Syzran I, passengers are transported by four ES2G series “Lastochka” (Swallow) electric trains. Such a high-speed train began operating in Samara Region in the summer of 2021. A year ago, the “Lastochka” was launched from Tolyatti to Novokuybyshevsk via Samara.
