Morning Traffic Jams Accumulate on Gaidar Square After Rush Hour

This morning on Gaidar Square, cars were stuck in traffic again, even though traffic patterns were changed to eliminate congestion. A photo correspondent from 59.RU visited a bit later — we show what the circle looks like after the morning rush hour.

Traffic jams on Gaidar Square started to occur regularly after the overpass on Cosmonauts Highway was closed for a two-year repair. In October, new traffic lights were installed at the square, but the last one was only switched on on January 19. This didn«t help: on Saturday at 4:00 PM, the square was again stuck in terrible gridlock. Starting today, there was a change in the traffic scheme to get rid of the jams. Usually, the circle on Gaidara self-blocks, trapping traffic on adjacent streets: cars can»t exit the area for a long time.

Until January 27, to get from Gaidar Square to the new tunnel on 2nd Highway Street, one could only do so from the far right lane, while going straight was possible from all three lanes. Now, turning from the square onto 2nd Highway Street is allowed from the right and middle lanes, but proceeding further in the right lane is prohibited.

The photo correspondent from 59.RU visited Gaidar Square and saw what was happening. Traffic jams dissipated after 11:00 AM, although passage from Lenin Street is somewhat difficult. It«s also calm to drive towards Perm II station.

The situation on Yekaterininskaya Street isn«t the easiest either: several buses are stuck there.

On the exit from Gaidar Square to Okulova, the lane is almost empty, while on the entrance to the square before the traffic light, cars have stopped, but the situation can«t be called critical — it»s clear that they can freely disperse.
