A shortage of diesel fuel adapted to low temperatures has arisen at Lukoil gas stations in Volgograd. The oil company«s press service linked this problem to an unexpected severe cold snap and increased consumption of winter fuel.

During the peak of the frosts, drivers faced a situation where some gas stations offered them off-season diesel fuel with a high paraffinization temperature. This raised concerns among car owners about the reliability of their vehicles« engines.

Lukoil representatives promptly provided an explanation: «There is a standard practice for supplying diesel fuel to gas stations taking into account the climatic conditions of regions, primarily the temperature regime,» explained the press service. «Volgograd Oblast is in a temperature range of up to -20 degrees Celsius (-4°F), which is grade F diesel fuel, while at Lukoil gas stations, grade F diesel fuel is available with an additional temperature margin of up to -22 degrees Celsius (-8°F).»

To address the difficulties that have arisen, the company has taken additional measures. «Due to the sharp temperature drop, additional supplies of class 1 diesel fuel (up to -26 degrees Celsius / -15°F) have been organized to Lukoil gas stations,» added the organization. «Given the increased demand, measures are being taken to increase the number of fuel tankers for delivering class 1 diesel fuel.»
