Great-grandfather's Legacy: Vintage Carriage Priced Like a Car

A 19th-century carriage is being sold in Yekaterinburg for 3.5 million rubles (about $38,900 at current rates). The ad«s author claims it has been preserved in its original condition since 1802.

“The carriage is made in the classic style of that era, with elegant lines and exquisite details. It has a sturdy construction that has allowed it to remain in good condition for more than two centuries,” the ad states.

According to the owner, the carriage would be a wonderful addition to an antique collection or an ideal exhibit for a museum. It could also be used in historical reenactments and parades.

“The carriage is an inheritance from my great-grandfather. All parts are original, including the glass. I will hand it over to the right owner; the piece is sitting idle. The carriage has opening windows, like a window regulator, and a folding top,” the owner notes.

The ad has been up since 13 January and has been viewed by nearly three thousand people. We tried to contact the carriage owner, but he did not answer our calls.
