32 new trolleybuses will be purchased for routes in Yaroslavl. Regional Minister of Roads and Transport Roman Dushko announced this on 3 February.

«We are planning work this year to update electric transport in the Yaroslavl Region. The two main cities are Yaroslavl and Rybinsk. By the end of 2026, we plan to renew all electric transport in the region,» said Roman Dushko at a meeting of the regional Duma committee on urban development, transport, security, and road quality.

According to the head of the regional Ministry of Transport, there are currently 55 trolleybuses operating in Yaroslavl, nine of which are «no older» than 2021. The rest need replacement. Additionally, nine new trolleybuses are planned to be equipped with autonomous running capability.

The region plans to renew its electric transport through participation in federal programs.

«And through treasury funds, write-off of two-thirds, and through participation in leasing programs,» explained Roman Dushko.

Recall that in the spring, Yaroslavl plans to close two trolleybus routes. This is due to the start of tram track repairs and dismantling of the overhead wire network on Oktyabrya Avenue.
