Frost forces trams in central Yekaterinburg onto detours

Extreme cold in Yekaterinburg caused trams to skid and roll back on icy rails, prompting route changes. Here are the temporary routes in effect.

Due to severe cold, problems with tram traffic arose in Yekaterinburg. On the tracks on Radishcheva Street, trams began to skid and roll back, so they were sent on other routes. The special regime was in place until approximately 12:00.

As reported by the Department of Transport (Deptrans), the changes affected, in particular, tram number 3. It temporarily runs from the Central Park of Culture and Leisure (TsPKiO) along Lunacharsky, Chelyuskintsev, Verkh-Isetsky Boulevard to the VIZ stop, then along Vikulova, Belorechenskaya, Moskovskaya, Lenina, and back to Lunacharsky to TsPKiO.

Route 17 was sent from «Keramicheskaya» along Titova, 8 Marta, Kuibysheva, Lunacharsky, Lenina, Verkh-Isetsky Boulevard, Khalturina to the loop on Kushvinskaya.

On route 12, the changes will only affect the «Spektr» trams (car 804). They run from the «40 Let VLKSM» station along Malysheva, Gagarina, Uralskaya, Lunacharsky to TsPKiO, then along Lunacharsky, Lenina, Chelyuskintsev, Uralskaya, Gagarina, Malysheva back to «40 Let VLKSM». The other trams on this route run according to the usual scheme.

The changes do not affect routes 1, 10, 15, and 21.

The temporary changes to the traffic patterns have been extended until 14:00.
