Voronezh did not make it into the top 10 Russian cities with the best public transport and infrastructure. The city only placed last in the list of ten cities that are catching up with the leaders. The rating was published on January 25 by Ilya Zotov, chairman of the All-Russian Passenger Association.

The list of cities with the best transport is as follows:

  1. Perm
  2. Chelyabinsk
  3. Nizhny Novgorod
  4. Yaroslavl
  5. Krasnodar
  6. Kursk
  7. Volgograd
  8. Blagoveshchensk
  9. Krasnoyarsk
  10. Kostroma

And here is the list of the ten «catching up» cities:

  1. Astrakhan
  2. Naryan-Mar
  3. Syktyvkar
  4. Novokuznetsk
  5. Yekaterinburg
  6. Ulan-Ude
  7. Arkhangelsk
  8. Veliky Novgorod
  9. Tyumen
  10. Voronezh

The worst public transport was found in Ulyanovsk, Ivanovo, and Irkutsk.

So what made Voronezh stand out in the expert«s eyes that it didn»t make the worst list? Zotov highlighted several points, among them: adding dedicated bus lanes; paid parking; purchase of new transport; opening of a new terminal for the temporarily non-operating airport; changes at the bus station, where a stop pavilion appeared, and at the entrance, they now conduct inspections.

However, Voronezh«s public transport lacks the following:

  • fare concessions;
  • a unified transport card and a single payment operator for trips;
  • transition to large-class vehicles considering the load on several routes;
  • creation of a city electric train;
  • a unified route map at stops;
  • driving culture and minibus drivers.

In early January, nearly two dozen bus routes were changed in Voronezh. The innovations did not please all city residents. To learn about what exactly they are dissatisfied with and what the city hall responded, read in our article.
