Chita makes top 10 list of cities with worst public transport

Passengers in Chita often complain about the public transport service
Chita has been included in the top 10 cities with low-quality public transport. The ranking was published on 26 January in his own Telegram channel by Russian public activist Ilya Zotov.
The selection is based on the personal opinion of the chairman of the All-Russian Passenger Association, after he personally visited all the listed cities, saw how public transport works there, and evaluated it according to a specific methodology.
In July 2025, Zotov had already compiled a similar ranking. At that time, Chita was not in the bottom ten. Now the results for the entire year have been summed up. Chita ended up in ninth place. The bottom ten also included Ulyanovsk, Ivanovo, Irkutsk, Makhachkala, Orel, Rostov-on-Don, Orenburg, Barnaul and Abakan.
«With this ranking, I call on all relevant authorities to pay close attention to these cities showing low results, to provide them with comprehensive support, because residents of the entire country deserve accessible and comfortable transport. It is also important to note the best so that experts and officials go there to exchange best practices,» Zotov wrote.
The top cities for transport and infrastructure, in order, are: Perm, Chelyabinsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Yaroslavl, Krasnodar, Kursk, Volgograd, Blagoveshchensk, Krasnoyarsk, Kostroma.
