Car crash halts tram traffic in central Volgograd

In Volgograd, four tram routes immediately changed their routes after a collision between a tram and a Ford Focus on Golubinskaya Street.

The accident, which altered the high-speed tram routes, was reported on the afternoon of January 22 in the «Volgograd Tram» group.

— Due to the accident, the operating boundaries for tram routes No. 2, No. 5, No. 7, and No. 10 have been temporarily changed, — reported «Metroelectrotrans». — Tram route No. 2 is operating between the stops «Ulitsa Khoresheva» and «Shkola No. 36». Tram routes No. 5, No. 7, and No. 10 are operating between the stops «Zhilgorodok» and «Shkola No. 36», «Radomskaya Ulitsa» and «Detsky Tsentr», «Ulitsa KIM» and «Detsky Tsentr».

— On Rokossovskogo Street, there«s an accident, trams aren»t running. I had to leave by taxi. I didn«t see any casualties.

In the dispatch office, they added that they are still waiting for traffic police officers.

— An accident occurred. We called the traffic police, we«re waiting. They haven»t arrived yet. We can«t say when traffic will resume.

In the photo from the accident scene, it can be seen that the driver of the Ford Focus attempted to cross the tram tracks on Golubinskaya Street, but for some reason did not yield to the tram. Information about the nature and circumstances of the incident, as well as any casualties, is being clarified by the police.

Earlier, on January 11, high-speed trams also stopped due to an accident. However, at that time, according to the dispatcher, the cause was a collision between two cars near the «Volgograd-Arena» stadium.
